Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and no sign-up. Shouty works the moment you open it, and it works offline permanently.
Does my message get sent anywhere?
No. Shouty has no servers and makes no network requests. Whatever you type stays in your phone's own app storage.
Will it change my screen brightness permanently?
No. Brightness is raised for the app's own window when a sign opens, and your original setting is restored the moment you leave.
How do I clear my sign history?
Settings → Reset erases your history at any time. Deleting the app removes everything Shouty has stored.
Can I share a sign as an image?
Yes. Any sign can be exported as a picture and handed to your device's standard share sheet. Nothing is uploaded by Shouty.
Is it safe to use anywhere?
Use judgement. Never use Shouty while driving, and never where it could distract drivers or interfere with emergency services. See the safety note on the app page if you are sensitive to flashing or moving imagery.
